The Mississippi high school season kicks off on February 26, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 29, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. Outlook

Coming in at Num. 25 in our Preseason Power25 are the Vikings of North Pontotoc as they are poised to defend their district title and return to Trustmark Park. Returning six starters and two pitchers is a luxury most teams are without, but not for Coach Chad Anthony. The team is anchored defensively by the experience of  C/OF Sheffield Anthony, UTL Ethan Dyer, 2B Hence Hooper and SS Braxton Sudduth. On the mound, the Viking will look for Jake Reeder and Corley Hooper to continue to improve on there combined 159 k’s from a season ago. With the combination of depth and experience Coach Anthony and the Vikings are primed to make another deep run in 2019.
