As always, the evaluation process is a fluid and ongoing process with multiple viewings in order to get the best feel for players abilities. It’s important to note that as players continue their development some show marked improvement at a much more rapid pace. That doesn’t indicate that other players got worse or went backwards, it’s just how player development works. As the year unfolds, players make improvements and new prospects pop up on the radar expanding the Prep Baseball rankings universe. In addition to the evaluations of players, our scouts, both those in Mississippi and nationally, have also had multiple discussions with each other to review our individual lists and then make adjustments based on what we've each seen.

MORE ABOUT THE TOP-10
+ No. 1 Axton Westmoreland
Westmoreland already has a solid foundation on the mound with fluid mechanics, a three pitch arsenal, along with loose, whippy arm action. While the former Junior Future Gamer’s fastball only sits around 80 mph, it's easy to dream of what's coming. He can swing the stick as well making him a legitimate up and coming next level dual prospect.
+ No. 2 Ethan Killough
Killough is another former Junior Future Games participant from this past summer and already displays an advanced skill set behind the plate. Like most 2028’s he is waiting on overall body maturity which could bode well with his 6-2 frame. He shows some occasional launch at the plate and plenty of left handed power potential.
+ No. 3 Rob Upchurch
The big righty is 6-5, 220 pounds and moves fairly well for a 15 year old with that large of a frame. Upchurch has two way potential like many players in the 2028 class though maybe a tic more because of the size. He uses lots of leverage at the plate which makes him a present power threat that will only get more dangerous, and on the mound he’s already into the mid 80’s with his fastball. Stay tuned…
+ No. 4 Grayson Rymer
Rymer uses very quick footwork, has good hands, and a solid arm with upside at both middle infield positions. At the plate the former Junior Future Gamer works the middle of the field well with line drives while keeping his hands inside the baseball with controlled aggression in the swing. Dirtbag type player coaches will love!
+ No. 5 Jaxon Herod
We’ve seen Herod several times over the past year and really like where he’s headed. As he gains strength and overall body maturity it will give us a better idea of where we feel he will end up on the diamond because at the moment he’s another that can get it done about anywhere you put him. The West Union freshman is already into the low 80’s on the mound along with some present pop at the plate and only getting better.
+ No. 6 Braylon Edwards
Edwards is making people take notice of him with advanced tools and more consistency on the way, He already knows how to find the barrel from both sides of the plate with a similar line drive, all fields approach in each box. The infielder from Madison Central has good speed as well which makes him a very difficult at bat for opposing pitchers. We hope to get more looks at him this spring and summer.
+ No. 7 Cooper McCoy
We got our first look at McCoy this summer at one of our ID events and he made an immediate impact on the eyes of our staff. The 6-0, 170 pounder stepped on the mound and instantly showed his upside as a right handed pitching prospect. The arm works well with fluidity and some whip and is already generating fastball velocities in the low 80’s with command. His secondary offerings are quality and advanced for his age. He may see some varsity action for Bobcats as early as this spring.
+ No. 8 Bowen Vaughn
Vaughn is very similar to Westmoreland with upside as both a left handed arm and bat. With his lean, athletic 6-1 frame the Oxford product could, like many, see himself rise in the class rankings as he matures. His fastball was up to 83 mph at our recent Top Prospect Underclass event at USM while also hammering a double down the right field line in gameplay.
+ No. 9 Seth Welch
Welch registered an event best 6.81 60 at our recent Top Prospect Underclassmen event at USM in early November. The speedy outfielder from Hamilton had a pretty solid day overall and will be a definite follow over the next couple of seasons as the body matures. At the plate Welch shows a middle of the field, line drive approach with exit velocities up to 91 mph.
+ No. 10 Kipptyn Briggs
Briggs was another member of our Junior Future Games roster and left a very good impression. His swing is very polished with quick hands and a level bat path. He can use the whole field but looks to pull when able. On defense, the Kossuth product still has developing feet but the glove work is solid with an accurate arm. Like the rest we can’t wait to lay eyes on Briggs again.
