The 2025 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ East Webster enters the 2025 season with momentum after last year’s dominant 30-3 campaign, which culminated in a 3A State Championship at Trustmark Park. Head Coach Blake Hutchinson will rely on the Wolverines’ pitching depth, strong team defense, and overall speed as they aim for a repeat trip to Pearl.

Leading the charge are senior standouts Stetson Perkins (SS) and Ethan Hillhouse (UT/RHP), along with junior ace Jordan Gaskin (LHP/1B).

Perkins returns as a key offensive catalyst after hitting .385 in 2024, driving in 27 runs and crossing the plate 47 times. Hillhouse also made a significant impact, scoring 42 runs while batting .290. On the mound, Gaskin was lights out last season, posting an 8-2 record with a minuscule 0.86 ERA and 74 strikeouts.

Coach Hutchinson will also look for contributions from sophomore Jace Yates (UT/RHP) and promising freshmen Elliot Grimes (C) and Kage McHann (INF/RHP).

East Webster begins its title defense on February 11th against Ethel, determined to build on last year’s championship run.
