The 2025 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ Myrtle returns 6 positional starters and 6 arms from a team that finished 10-20 in 2024 which included a second round loss in the 1A State Playoffs. Coach Brandon Montgomery is counting on the Hawks ability to swing the bat along with plenty of in-game experience as major components in their quest to make a deeper playoff run in 2025.

Top returners for Myrtle include seniors Ray Moody (OF/RHP), Hunter Davis  (INF/RHP), BJ Treadway (C/INF), and Kaleb Thomas (OF), juniors Eli Crumpton (INF/C) and Keaton Butler (INF/RHP), sophomore Wes Stanton (UT), and freshman Drew Stanton (UT). Drew Stanton is a former Junior Future Games participant with lots of power potential. 

Kaleb Thomas looks to be the catalyst of the Hawk lineup once again after hitting .393 last season with a team high 31 runs scored. Eli Crumpton led all returning players with 28 runs batted in. Both Stanton’s look to continue adding production after they each proved over 20 RBI’s themselves In 2024.

The Hawks open regular season play on February 17th versus Wheeler.
