The 2025 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ New Albany returns 5 positional starters and 4 pitchers from a roster that ended last season at 22-13 after falling in the 2nd round of the 4A State Playoffs. Head Coach Drew Wheeler is excited about the Bulldog’s young offensive talent heading into the 2025 spring. 

Top returners for New Albany include seniors seniors Jeb Bolen (SS) and Jacob Simmons (RHP), junior Parker Skinner (C/RHP), and sophomore Parker Hicks (INF/RHP).

Skinner (23 RBI), Hicks (21 RBI), and Bolen (17 RBI) were big contributors to the Bulldogs offense last year and will be expected to step up once again this season. Skinner also picked up 7 wins in 2025 along with a 3.45 ERA and 42 strikeouts. 

Other Bulldogs expected to produce are juniors Pierce Ray (UT) and Connor Yarbrough (SP), sophomores Landon Evans (CI/OF) , Darion Jackson CF), Sam Ewing (C), and Noah Cooper (UT), along with freshman AJ Curbow (UT). 

New Albany will begin regular season play on February 21st versus Pontotoc.
