The 2025 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ North Delta returns 7 positional starters and 7 pitchers from a team that finished last season at 25-9 after falling in the 4th round of the MAIS 4A State Playoffs. Head Coach Jim Tom Copeland believes his Green Wave are primed for a deep run as they bring back every inning from the pitching staff as well as a very strong lineup that hit .359 as a team in 2024. 

Top returners for North Delta include seniors Herron Williams (1B/LHP), Kolby Baker (OF/RHP, Coahoma CC signee), Owens Johnson (OF/RHP, Arkansas Mid South CC signee), Clayton Hentz (RHP, Coahoma CC signee), and Alex Jackson (INF/RHP). 

Williams led all returners with a .438 batting average including 2 home runs, 10 doubles, and 34 runs batted in. He will get plenty of offensive help from Baker (.422) and Johnson (.330, 2 HR, 36 RBI). Hentz led the Green Wave in innings with 58 while posting a 1.81 ERA. He along with Jackson (45 innings, 0.92 ERA) will lead the attack from the mound. 

Coach Copeland will also expect production from senior Landon Hoshell (INF/RHP), junior Hunter Carpenter (C), and sophomore Jett Manning (OF/RHP). Hoshell will add depth to the pitching staff, while Carpenter (.330) and Manning (.352) look to repeat their offensive success from a year ago. 

North Delta will begin regular season play on February 14th versus Winona Christian Academy.
