The 2025 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ Southeast Lauderdale enters the 2025 season with high expectations, returning six positional starters and four pitchers from last year’s impressive 27-10 squad that made a deep run to the 4th round of the 3A State Playoffs. Head Coach Austin Quigley is confident in the Tigers’ potential, with three dominant arms and seven key pieces from the 2024 lineup back in the mix.

Leading the way are seniors Stephen Eakes (1B/P, East MS CC recruit), Logan Flaskamp (SS/P, East MS CC recruit), Kohl Ethridge (2B/OF/P), Nathan Wilson (1B/OF/P, Meridian CC recruit), and Jase Thomas (OF/P), along with standout sophomore Rown Riley (MI).

Wilson was the Tigers’ top run producer last season, hitting .364 with 35 RBIs and three home runs. Flaskamp (27 RBIs), Eakes (27 RBIs), Ethridge (22 RBIs), and Thomas (20 RBIs) add to an experienced lineup capable of putting up big numbers. On the mound, Eakes returns as the ace after a dominant 2024 campaign, where he went 7-0 with a 1.19 ERA and 94 strikeouts.

Several other players are expected to make an impact, including junior Chase Keller (3B/UT), sophomores Colton Eason (C/P), Payton Roberts (UT/P), and Mason Chapman (UT/P), as well as promising freshmen Cohen Mosley (C) and John Purvis (SS/P).

The Tigers open their season on February 10th against West Lauderdale, looking to build on last year’s success and make another deep playoff push.
