Prep Baseball Mississippi Staff

The 2025 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2025 OUTLOOK

+ Washington School returns 6 positional starters and all of their pitching from last year’s roster that ended 2024 at 17-13 after a 2nd loss in the MAIS 4A State Playoffs. Head Coach Hunter Palasini is counting on the strength of his pitching staff and a solid receiving core to be strong components to a successful season for his Generals.

Top returners for Washington include senior Charley Dunn (C/RHP), juniors Cody Polson (C/1B0, Turner Hitt (2B/RHP), and sophomore Jones Roberson (CI).

Roberson, a former Junior Future Gamer, led the team last season with a .429 batting average and 31 runs batted in. Dunn, another former Junior Future Gamer, hit .392 with 3 HR and 27 RBI. He along with Hitt (.395, 22 RBI), and Polson will give the Generals plenty of production in the heart of the order. Hitt was the go to arm on the mound last season as he went 6-1 with 2.20 ERA with 64 strikeouts.

Washington will begin regular season play on February 12th versus Greenville.
