2018 MLB Draft Recap: North Carolina HS Selections

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

The 2018 draft has come and gone and North Carolina was a big player, with several prospects becoming big winners over the three day draft period.  Last year, North Carolina produced two 1st round picks and had 11 players selected out of the high school ranks.  This year, there were two players taken on day one with Jordyn Adams (OF, Green Hope HS) and Owen White (RHP/SS, Jesse Carson HS) taken in the 1st and 2nd rounds respectively.

As we moved into day two, Justin Jarvis (RHP, Lake Norman HS) came off the board.  The UNCW commit was selected by the Brewers in the 5th round.  Day three proved to be both anticipated and surprising all at once.  Several players that were on radars across the board were selected while a couple of key surprises saw their name called as well.
