2020 Summer Leaderboard - Positional Velocities

Brandon Hall
Executive Director of Scouting, PBR NC

The summer of 2020 was unlike any other PBR has witnessed.  The spring was cut short and there were limitations throughout the summer for club teams and events as the country dealt with COVID-19.  Through it all, the high school baseball players of North Carolina continued to work, and shine, as college coaches and pro scouts were following from a distance.

Today we continue our look back at the summer of 2020, diving into some of the elite stats posted by North Carolina players.  Next up are the positional velocities collected during the pro-style workouts.  Summer events began on May 31st and ran through August 12th.  Events included team scout days, open IDs, invite only events and others.

POSITIONAL VELOCITY – INFIELDERS

Infielders were able to workout at shortstop, throwing across the infield, or from 1B throwing 3B in the pro-style workout.  Coaches are working to evaluate rhythm, footwork, hands, exchanges, arm action, accuracy, and carry.  To measure arm strength PBR Scouts utilize a radar gun.  Below are the top posted positional velocities from the summer of 2020.

Rank First Last School Class POS INF Velo
1 Trey Way Uwharrie Charter 2022 C/2B 89
2 Jake Knepp Providence 2021 3B/SS 87
