2021 Future Games: Team Massachusetts - Workout Day/Gameday Notes

The tenth annual Future Games took place on July 28-31 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2023 and 2024 participated in one of the most popular events each year.

There were 32 teams, including Team Massachusetts, with players representing 38 states plus Canadian prospects. 

More than 330 scouts from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event.

The Arms

Andrew Chenevert RHP / 3B / Dracut, MA / 2023

Report: Fastball touched 85 mph with good arm side action to the pitch. The slider was 74-75 mph with late action to it. The changeup was 77-78 mph and had action to it. The delivery is online, repeated and athletic. The presence and make up are excellent. He is a strike thrower.

Colin Dowdle RHP / St. Sebastians, MA / 2023

Report: Lanky RHP up to 88 mph with a wipe out slider. The changeup is solid and he shows a clean and quick arm. The delivery is online and repeated. The command was solid and he projects to make another velocity jump as he matures.

Max Falcone RHP / 1B / Wellesley, MA / 2023

Report: Big and sturdy RHP, fastball up to 85 mph with a low 70's breaking pitch. The delivery is clean and the arm works free and clean.

Kellan Heney LHP / OF / Governor's Academy, MA / 2023

Report: Quick armed LHP with a fastball that sat at 83 mph and two secondary pitches that add the deception of his craft. The delivery is funky and he attacks the hitters at will.

Matt Lee RHP / OF / Taconic, MA / 2023

Report: 86-88 mph with life on the fastball. The spin is 72-75 with late break as he can add more velocity to it. Shows an upper 70's changeup. The delivery is athletic and online. The arm is short and clean on the back 1/2.

Dylan McCarthy RHP / OF / Vermont Academy, VT / 2023

Report: The fastball touched 85 mph with a mid 70's spin pitch. The spin pitch is very good at times when it is competitive on the zone. The changeup showed well, 75-77 mph with arm side action to it. The delivery is solid in tempo, he does come offline prior to foot strike but he is ultra aggressive with his arm.

Zach Morris RHP / 1B / Gloucester, MA / 2023

Report: Quick armed RHP, 85-86 with a mid 70's breaking ball. Showed a changeup at 77-78 mph with fading action. The delivery is quick in tempo and he repeats the delivery. The arm is quick and the projection is solid. The makeup is excellent as he should be a strike throwing machine in the upper 80's by the time he reaches the next level.

Evan Ventura RHP / OF / Reading Memorial, MA / 2023

Report: The fastball touched 86 mph with a spin pitch up to 74 mph with very little depth to it. The changeup was 77-78 mph with run. The delivery is high 3/4, back arch and the slot is fast coming through. The direction to the plate needs to improve as he spins off the target.

The Catchers

Cameron Morrison C / OF / Bridgewater - Raynham, MA / 2023

Report: Ran a 6.75 sixty and showed well behind the dish, posting a 1.98 pop time. The bat has solid life and his best days are in front of him.

Drew Renzella C / 1B / Williston Northampton, MA / 2023

Report: Turned in a solid batting practice round, exit velocity of 91 mph. The skill set behind the dish continues to improve as he matures in age.

Jace Roossien C / 1B / Phillips Academy - Andover, MA / 2024

Report: Showed well offensively from both sides of the plate. The skill set has a huge amount of upside. The skill set behind the dish is solid and should advance nicely through the next couple years.

The Infielders

Evan Blake 3B / SS / Taconic, MA / 2023

Report: Turned in another good workout, exit velocity of 96 mph. There is more in the tank. The glove and arm are solid at the hot corner. Hit a grand slam and had 5 RBI in game 1.

Alex Marot 3B / SS / Winchendon School, MA / 2023

Report: Showed plenty of arm strength and a solid glove at the hot corner. Turned in an impressive BP round, exit velocity of 100 mph. Doubled and walked in game 1.

Sean O'Leary 3B / RHP / Foxboro, MA / 2023

Report: Excellent batting practice session, exit velocity of 95 mph with more to come. Shows plenty of arm and a feel for the glove at the hot corner.

Jayder Raifstanger SS / 2B / Monument mountain, MA / 2023

Report: Exit velocity of 95 mph, showing a simple path to the baseball. The glove is solid and he moves well in the middle of the field.

Chris Walsh SS / OF / Duxbury, MA / 2023

Report: Ran a 6.7 sixty at the event. The bat showed well and he excelled defensively, showing excellent glove work and a solid arm.

The Outfielders

Cam Dayton OF / Thayer Academy, MA / 2023

Report: Had a good workout, ran a 6.7. The skill set in the outfield is solid. He turned in a legit batting practice, exit velocity of 99 mph.

Matthew Lussier OF / SS / Dexter Southfield, MA / 2023

Report: Ran a 6.8 with ease, showed well in the outfield. The batting practice was impressive as he spreads the field and stays in his skill set.

Andrew Manning OF / Boston College, MA / 2023

Report: Turned in an excellent workout, exit velocity of 103 mph. The approach and athleticism in the outfield is excellent

Gabriel Pitts OF / SS / Worcester Academy, MA / 2023

Report: Ran a legit 6.39 as the gait is free and easy. Profiles as on OF with a left fielders arm. The approach at the plate is simple and he shows excellent hand speed.

The Two-Way Prospects

Payton Manca 1B / LHP / Combine Academy, MA / 2023

Report: Exit Velocity of 100 mph and showed plus bat to ball skills. Shows well over at first base and has feel for the game. On the mound, the fastball touched 87 mph with downhill plane to it. The spin pitch is 69-72 mph with solid depth to the pitch. The delivery is clean, he shows a good feel for pitching and he has great leverage.

Cole Mascott 1B / RHP / Phillips Academy Andover, MA / 2023

Report: Exit velocity of 86 mph with a solid feel for the barrel. The approach in the infield is solid and athletic. On the mound, the fastball sat at 82 mph with a 70-72 mph slider. The arm is long and free. Expect a jump in velocity as he progresses in the coming years.

Will Perkowski 1B / RHP / Derryfield School, NH / 2023

Report: Long and lanky, showed good athleticism. The bat had an exit velocity of 93 mph. The arm is clean in the infield and he moves well around the bag.

Dylan Vigue OF / RHP / Groton School, MA / 2023

Report: Threw 86 mph from the outfield, showing plenty of arm strength and leverage. Showed had speed at the dish, exit velocity of of 94 mph. On the mound, plus 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm swing. The tempo is solid and he repeats. He shows a small amount of forward lean to the plate. The fastball touched 88 mph and he flashed a spin pitch at 75-76 mph. The arm speed needs to stay the same on the secondary pitches. The changeup is mid 70's with minimal fade to it. The projection is very good on the mound.
