5 High Risers in the Updated 2020 Class Rankings

Brandon Hall

Last week the North Carolina 2020 Class Rankings were updated.  The list expanded to the top 175 players in the state and just like the Overall Rankings, it was noted just how deep the crop of talent in the 2020 class is in North Carolina.  Fifty-four of the ranked players in 2020 have committed, including 23 of the top 25.

As we dive into the updated rankings we begin by looking at five players making a significant jump.   There are a number of reasons a player can bump up the list.  In the group listed below, you will see players that may have been under-valued, and had their player grade adjusted with another evaluation, or you may see players that have begun to mature into their frames with their skill set increasing with the new found strength, quickness, and athleticism.  The bottom line is there is still a lot of growth coming for the 2020 class.   While the players continue to improve, PBR will continue to be on site in North Carolina working to cover the baseball players across the state.

The most significant jump came from No. 5 Cannon Pickell (RHP, Currituck County HS).  Pickell’s rise was documented in the NC Class of 2020 Rankings release last week and for that reason we identified five other players to highlight in this article.
