Millbrook Downs Wake Forest Behind Pearce

Game Recap:
In a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon, Millbrook defeated Wake Forest 6 - 1 behind a strong pitching effort from RHP Brian Pearce.  Pearce worked 6 innings, strking out 5 and only surrendering 3 hits. 

The Wildcat offense got started early with runs in the 1st and 2nd innings.  Into the 5th Millbrook had built a 3-1 lead and then delivered the knockout blow.  D Rodgriguez led off the frame with a double to center and was followed by a single from Justin Wilcoxen to put runners on the corners.  Coley Kilpatrick doubled to right, scoring both runners.  Kilpatrick would move up on a ground ball and score on a wild pitch, securing the final outcome. 

Wake Forest was led by Sophomore SS Kahlil Watson with 2 hits and a run scored.  Watson led the game off with a triple to right field, scoring two hitters later on an Isaac Williams’ sacrifice line out to left.  Watson also added a single and stolen base later in the game.

Williams would work 5 innings for Wake Forest, attacking the strike zone but yielding all 6 runs.
