South Mecklenburg 7     East Rowan 2

Game Recap:
On a cold, wet day, South Mecklenburg came out swinging and put together an early lead, downing the home standing Mustangs of East Rowan by a score of 7-2.  South Meck got a stellar performance from senior righty, Max Castro who worked into the 6th allowing just 1 hit.  Offensively, senior Matt Hill led the offense from the leadoff position with a double, home run, and 2 runs scored.

The Sabres got off to a quick start with a lead off double by Hill. Next, Wes Terte reached on a slow infield ground ball, that was followed by back to back RBI singles by James Johnson and Brendan Bagwell. Johnson went on to score on a stealing attempt by Bagwell.

East Rowan starter, freshman RHP Cameron Padgett settled in after his first inning, working 3 innings.  In the 4th, Hill would get South Meck on the board again with a solo homerun to center field to give the Sabres a 4-0 lead.

The top of the 5th saw the Sabres threatening again after lead-off, back to back hit batters.  Owen Wilson grounded out with 1 out in the inning, but picked up an RBI as Johnson scored from 3B.

In the 7th, the Sabres would add two more runs to put the game away.  With two runners on, Thomas Mills smacked a RBI double to left, scoring Will Budnick.  The Sabres scoring was finalized with a bases loaded RBI hit-by-pitch from Wes Terte, scoring Devin Armstrong

The Mustangs got on the board with an RBI single from Padgett and a run scored on a ground ball from Jake Holshouser in the 7th.
