Late Ralley Surges Heritage Past Green Hope

Game Recap:
On Thursday night, Heritage HS used a big sixth inning to break open a tie game and move into the NCHSAA 4A State Playoff’s 3rd Round.  Green Hope jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the 1st and extended their lead in the 5th to 4-2.  Heritage would tie the game in the bottom of the 5th and bust it open one inning later.

The Heritage 6th opened with three singles to load the bases.  Hunter Zents would score on a wild pitch and Whit Kane delivered a single, driving in two.  With two outs in the inning, Cole Cunningham would put the game away with a single scoring Kane and Tyler Roy

The Heritage bullpen was very good on the night, working 6 innings, giving up 1 unearned run while striking out 7.  Jalen Hollins took over in the 2nd, working 1.2 innings.  Effectively wild, he punched 2 and walked 3, giving way to Carson Hinnant.  Hinnant picked up the win throwing 4.1 innings.  He gave up 1 hit, walked 2 and struckout 5.

Heritage will move into the 3rd round where they will face No. 1 seed in the east, New Bern HS.
