Athens Drive HS   2 Leesville Road HS  5

PBR was in Raleigh on Wednesday for the Cap Six 4A Conference matchup featuring Athens Drive and Leesville Road.  Leesville looked to remain perfect in conference play and would lean on a trio of arms in this matchup.

Athens Drive’s top two in their order, Nathan Bunch and Dempsey Canton, each reached in the 1st inning, scoring to give the Jaguars an early 2-0 lead.  Leesville starter Tanner Langlois would then settle in, working four solid innings, only allowing the 2 runs, both unearned.  Ryan Manning and Adam Smith would combine to work the final three innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 walks, but no runs, while striking out 4.

The Leesville offense got rolling in the bottom of the 2nd, tying the game with 2 runs of their own.  In the bottom of the 4th, the Pride would plate 3, giving the pitching staff all it would need for the win.   Jordan Brown would go 1-3 on the night with 2 RBIs.  Cole Lanford was 1-1 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored

Leesville Road improved to 9-5 on the year and 4-0 in conference, leading Cardinal Gibbons by 1 game and Athens Drive by a game and a half in the standings.  The Jaguars dropped to 9-9, 3-2 in conference.  These two will complete the 2 game series this week on Friday at Athens Drive.

Tanner Langlois, LHP, Leesville Road HS, 2023
Thin build with a high waist.  Long limbs.  Room to add size and strength.  Very poised and under control on the mound. Used three pitches to keep batters off balance. Good feel for a curve ball and change-up provided some swing and misses for strikeouts. Fastball sat
