Prep Baseball Report

NC Top Viewed Profiles: October of 2018

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

One of the unique opportunities Prep Baseball Report affords players from across the country is the ability to house and update their stats and video in a "one-stop shop" for college coaches, pro scouts, and fans of high school baseball.  Every player can create a free PBR Profile (CLICK HERE), or search to see if they already have one on the site.  When a member of PBR's scouting staff sees a player in action he is able to update any statistical information (arm velocity, exit velocity, running speed, pop times, ect.,) on the players in the system.

Each month our staff likes to look back at some of the top viewed profiles from the previous month.  It gives some insight on how players can continue to #BeSeen as they are working through their recruiting process.  It also gives us some insight on some of the news information that fans in North Carolina may want included on the site.

Top Viewed Profiles: October of 2018

Nick Neal 1B / Randleman, NC / 2020

Uncommitted.  Big man attended the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis in August and has been at the top of this list since his impressive showing.  Playing football this fall and has scaled back his baseball activities, but the buzz is constant and a big spring is expected for Neal and his Randleman teammates.

Preston Hall 3B / OF / Myers Park, NC / 2020

Attended the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis in August as a member of Team Carolina.  After another impressive week at the PBR Fall Championships - Southeast, at Charleston, SC's Shipyard Park, Hall committed to the College of Charleston.

Seth Keener RHP / SS / East Surry, NC / 2020

Exploded on the scene at the Queen City Prospect ID at Myers Park HS.  Loose hips and a quick arm allowed the fastball to ride, jumping out of the hand and touching 88 mph.  Keener flashed feel for his secondary stuff as well.  Even though his profile went up late in the month, the buzz was real after the performance.

Alex Sniffen 3B / RHP / New Hanover, NC / 2019

Sniffen as attended a couple of PBR events, showing well in the box and on the bump at each.  He was also part of the AAA State Champion New Hanover Wildcats run in 2018.  A physical presence, Sniffen may contribute to the middle of an order and in the bullpen once he sets foot on campus.

Bryson Hammer LHP / 1B / Alexander Central, NC / 2020

Left hander has a good arm, committing to Clemson during the State Games of North Carolina in June.  While command is still developing, the fastball and breaking ball both pose as significant weapons.

Josh Hartle LHP / 1B / Reagan, NC / 2021

Another good summer has continued to have people intrigued by the Wake Forest commit.  A member of Team USA's 15U team, Hartle has continued to develop after committing to Wake last year.  Stuff and pitch-ability are present and he is showing signs of being a possible two-way talent.

Chris Villaman LHP / OF / Ledford, NC / 2019

The top ranked player in NC in the 2019 class, Villaman had a steady fall.  PBR was on hand to see the NC State commit throw on multiple occasions and he was consistent in each outing.

Philip Abner LHP / Covenant Day School, NC / 2021

Lefty committed to Florida after a good showing in the sunshine state for his SBA Canes club.  Still developing, there is arm strength.  Hampered by some back issues in the spring of 2018, Abner seems to be completely healthy now.

Dustin Mercer OF / LHP / Weddington, NC / 2020

Committed to Virginia Tech this past month.  Potential two-way player, there is arm strength on the mound and a physical presence in the box.  Hampered by a small injury in the spring, Mercer continued to get better and better each week in the summer and fall.

Cade Miller SS / RHP / Alexander Central, NC / 2022

Freshman had a very good day at the Queen City Prospect ID at Myers Park HS, just a couple of weeks ago.  There is arm strength present with a lot of maturation still ahead.
