Nine to Know: Risers in the Updated 2021 Rankings

Just prior to the Holiday break, PBR of North Carolina released our updated and expanded class of 2021 rankings for the state. The rankings were expanded to the top 200 players in North Carolina with fifty-seven new names entering the rankings.

Today as part of our continued series, Nine to Know, we take an in-depth look at nine players that made a jump in the rankings. Each player has attended a PBR event, allowing PBR scouts to update the player's information, add an evaluation, and add video to the player's profile. Several of these players will be follows as they enter their spring season, if they have not committed already.

Nine to Know

Clay Minor SS / OF / Northern Guilford , NC / 2021

Minor continues to impress with his athletic ability and bat. Wiry strong, the ball jumps off the barrel and he continues to show a high level of barrel ability in BP and game settings.

Full Evaluation from November of 2019:
Athletic frame with room to add strength at 6 foot 2, 165-pounds. Posted the best 60 time on the day running a 6.84. Hits from the right side with a tall, balanced setup. Leg kick during his load with his hands working back. Some quickness to his hands with a pull approach. Hit several line drives during his second round of batting practice. Average to above average bat speed with his exit velocity recorded at 91 mph. Fluid in the outfield, working through the ball with average hands. Accurate arm with some carry to the plate. Plays relaxed on the infield with fluid feet. Better than average hands with feel for different arm angles. Accurate arm to first base that topped at 84 mph.
