Pinecrest Upends No. 19 Myers Park

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Executive Director

Pincecrest  5 #19 Myers Park  0

Cam Bunker worked 6 strong innings and the Pinecrest offense was pace by Colby Wallace's three RBIs, as Pinecrest earned a road victory at No. 19 Myers Park.

Bunker punched 10 and did not give up a walk on his way to a 6 shutout innings and the win.  Noah Arnette worked the 7th, escaping a bases loaded jam with a strikeout to end the game as a light drizzle started to pick up on Friday night.

Pinecrest got on the board in the 3rd with a 1 out walk by Nick DiCarlo, followed by a single from JD Scarborough trough the right side.  A balk would advance both runners up one base, to 2nd and 3rd.  Wallace then grounded to the 2nd basemen who made an attempt at DiCarlo at the plate only to see DiCarlo score.  The play got a little wild as Wallace took off for 2B.  As Myers Park worked to make a play on Wallace, Scarborough would break for home and beat a throw to score the 2nd run for the Patriots.

Luke McGrath was solid in his start on the mound for the Mustangs, taking the loss in 5.1 innings of work.  The Patriots would add 3 runs in the 7th to blow the game open.

With the win, Pinecrest moves to 4-1 on the year.  Myers Park drops to 3-1.  Both teams are scheduled to return to action this week with Myers Park playing Monday vs. Porter Ridge and Pinecrest scheduled to face off with Richmond on Tuesday.
