Player Evals: South Charlotte Braves - MIF & OF

PBR of NC continued its coverage of North Carolina on Tuesday September 1st with a full scout day with the South Charlotte Braves. The Braves organization is based out of Charlotte, NC. The workout featured 30 players from the organization taking part in a pro-style workout.

The workout included TrackMan gathering data on hitters and pitchers. The day started with a laser timed 60. The surface was a little soft from a heavy down pour the day before, creating times that may be slightly slower than if the players had run on a completely firm track. Following the 60, players worked offensively, taking multiple rounds of live BP. Defensively, players worked out from their primary positions for PBR Scouts. Finally, pitchers threw controlled bullpens with TrackMan gathering all the ball flight data out of the hand.

Defense: Quick, active feet, catches the ball near center, better than average hands, clean transfers.
Arm: R. INF - 69 mph. OF - 71 mph. Accurate, quick arm through a high 3/4 slot.

Arm: INF - 71 mph. Accurate, some carry, quick arm, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: . Upright, narrow, even base, hands at back shoulder. Short stride, small hand load. Quick hands, direct barrel path, stays through the bal, line drive approach using the whole field with feel for his barrel.
Power: 83 mph exit velocity from the tee. Average bat speed, numbers should jump with added strength.

Jack Morrisette SS / OF / Weddington , NC / 2023

Positional Profile: SS/OF.
Body: 6/1, 155 pounds. Lanky frame, room for growth ahead.
Defense: Active feet, catches the ball in the center of his body, relaxed hands, clean exchanges near his midsection.
Arm: R. Accurate, short arm action, 3/4 slot.
Hit: L. Athletic, even base, barrel flat over back shoulder. Toe tap against back leg, average stride, hands load back, barrel goes more vertical. Loose swing, quick hands, flat barrel path, stays through the ball, works through the middle of the field with barrel feel.
