Providence Sweeps Rival Ardrey Kell in Top 20 Battle

One of the top rivalries in North Carolina High School baseball is that between Providence and Ardrey Kell. Each has yearly aspirations of winning a state title, but first they must run through each other for a chance at the always competitive South Meck 7 4A Conference championship.

This year, the two game set sees Providence enter at 16-1, 8-0 in league play, and ranked No. 17 in the PBR Power 25. Ardrey Kell entered 13-4, 6-2, and ranked at No. 13.

The first of the two game set took place on Wednesday at Ardrey Kell. Providence ran ace, Noah Hall to the mound and he was able to keep the Knights bats at bay over his 5.1 innings, giving up just 1 earned run. Providence jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with 3 unearned runs, all scored with 2 outs in the 1st, off of lefty Luke Carpenter.
