Rawlings Prospects Scout Day: Quick Hitters - Position Players

On Wednesday August 31st PBR of North Carolina was on hand at Historic Durham Athletic Park for a scout day with the Rawlings Prospects. The scout day featured players from the 2023-2026 grad classes.

The evening started with catchers going through a defensive evaluation then pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting data analytics. After the bullpens position players ran a laser timed 60 followed by BP on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data. After BP outfielders and infielders went through a defensive evaluation.

Quick Hitters - Position Players

Jackson Berkhead, OF/3B, 2024

5-foot-10, 170-pound frame with room to hold added weight. Left hand hitter. Lined balls to both gaps during his BP rounds. Balanced swing with a short path and his barrel staying inside the ball. Quick hands with his peak exit velocity at 88.5 mph. 

Braden Beyer, 3B/SS, 2024

Strength present in a 6-foot, 170-pound build. Consistently hit balls off the barrel working through the middle of the field. Line drive approach with strength in his hands. Barrel is short to the ball and stays through the zone. Peak exit velocity at 92 mph, average EV at 84.5 mph. Solid actions on the infield. 

Brendan Chamberlain, 3B, 2024

6-foot-1, 155-pound frame. Lined several balls through the middle and to the right center gap. Hands have looseness with a direct path and feel for the barrel staying inside the ball. Top exit velocity recorded at 83.9 mph. 

Ben Fields, 3B, 2026

5-foot-8, 137-pound frame with room for maturation ahead. Left hand hitter. Hands have quickness with his barrel getting length through the front of the zone. Stayed through the middle of the field with his peak exit velocity recorded at 77.6 mph. 

Jacob Pereira, 2B/3B, 2024

5-foot-10, 173-pound frame. Worked through the middle and to the left center gap with his peak exit velocity at 85.2 mph. Flat barrel path through the zone with some quickness to his hands using a line drive approach. 

Joshua Potter, 2B/SS, 2023

5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. The left hand hitter hit several balls of the barrel working to both sides of the field. Top exit velocity recorded at 91.5 mph. Relaxed hands with quickness keeping his barrel through the zone. Solid actions on the infield. Ran a 6.91 laser timed 60. 

Tyler Ruta, 2B, 2025

5-foot-10, 150-pound frame. Worked gap to gap during his BP rounds with a line drive approach hitting several balls off the barrel. Stays balanced with a flat barrel path getting extension out front. Peak exit velocity at 80 mph with an average EV of 75 mph. 

Jentz Steiner, 3B/OF, 2024

5-foot-7, 140-pound frame. Consistently hit balls of the barrel working mostly to his pull side. Posted a peak Exit Velocity of 88.1 mph. Hands are quick, turns through the ball with a direct path and keeps his barrel through the zone. Solid actions defensively. 

Wilson Aubut, C, 2026

5-foot-11, 150-pound frame with room for growth in the coming years. Arm topped at 75 mph from behind the plate. Worked through the middle of the field in BP. Simple swing using a no stride approach with a direct barrel path. 

Gabe Field, OF, 2023

5-foot-8, 165-pound frame with strength present. Hands have quickness and strength working to both gaps in BP. Mostly flat barrel path getting extension through the middle of the field. Top exit velocity recorded at 87.5 mph. Ran a 7.05 laser timed 60. 

Evan Barefoot, OF, 2023

Lanky frame at 6-foot, 160-pounds with room to add strength. Posted the top outfield velocity at 89 mph. Throws have accuracy and carry to the bag. Hands have quickness working to both sides of the field in BP. Balanced swing with his barrel getting length out front. Ran a 7.07 laser timed 60. 

Cody Hoelzle, OF, 2024

Long, lanky frame at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds with room to fill out. Hands have quickness working through the middle of the field with a line drive approach. Mostly flat barrel path with his top exit velocity recorded at 86.2 mph. Loose arm with accuracy to his throws fr
