The Region X tournaments started on Friday May 7th with the Division 3 tournament being held at Moor Park in Mooresville, NC. Below is a full recap of the week with Rockingham CC losing their first game the coming all the way back to win the championship. 


Tournament Seedings

1. Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute: 25-9 (15-0)

2. Rockingham Community College: 21-13 (10-5)

3. Surry Community College: 4-27-1 (3-10)

4. Thomas Nelson Community College: 5-22 (0-13)


Tournament Schedule and Results


Friday May 7

Game 1 at 3:00 pm: #3 Surry defeated #2 Rockingham - 14-5, 8 inn.

  • Surry had 13 hits scoring in 6 of their 8 at bats
  • Ethan McLain went 2-4 with 3 RBI’s for Surry

Game 2 at 6:00 pm: #1 Caldwell Tech defeated  #4 Thomas Nelson - 17-9, 7 inn.

  • Caldwell scored in every inning but the first
  • Noah Love and Hayden Setzer homered for Caldwell

Saturday, May 8

Game 3 at 12:00 pm: #1 Caldwell Tech defeated #3 Surry - 16-6, 6 inn. 

  • Caldwell used an 11 run 2nd inning to send them to Sunday’s Championship
  • Jermie Greene, Noah Love, and Hayden Setzer homered for Caldwell
  • Hayden Setzer went 4-4 with 5 RBI’s

Game 4 at 3:00 pm: #2 Rockingham defeated #4 Thomas Nelson (eliminated) - 12-10

  • Leadoff hitter Bennet Nooe led the way for Rockingham going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and 2 SB

Game 5 at 6:00 pm: #2 Rockingham defeated #3 Surry - 10-0, 5 inn. 

  • Garret Hladilek drove in 3 runs as Rockingham used a 6 run third to take a commanding lead
  • Trenton Wood tossed the 5 inning complete game allowing only 3 hits

Sunday, May 9

Championship Game at 12:00 pm: #2 Rockingham defeated #1 Caldwell Tech - 5-2

  • With the game tied at 1 Rockingham scored 4 in the top of the 3rd to take the lead for good
  • Bennet Nooe homered and drove in 2 runs for Rockingham
  • Jonathan Todd tossed 8 innings punching out 15 for Rockingham

Championship Game at 3:00 pm: #2 Rockingham defeated #1 Caldwell Tech (eliminated) - 11-10

  • Caldwell jumped out to an early 4-0 lead
  • Rockingham then scored 4 runs in both the 4th and 5th and added 3 more in the 6th
  • Each time Caldwell scored Rockingham answered with runs of their own
  • Dylan Schultheiss homered and drove in 6 runs for Rockingham
