Team Carolina Finishes 2020 Future Games with Team Georgia

Day 3 of the 2020 PBR Future Games started with a slight delay with lightening in the area of LakePoint.  The weather would roll back in as Team Carolina took on Team Georgia in their final game of the event.  A lengthy rain and lightening delay would ultimately end the game in the top of the 6th inning as PBR Scouts did not want to run arms back out after the delay.

Team Carolina would jump out to a quick start with Calder Garris (C/RHP, Wando HS, 2022) throwing an early zero.  The big righty was impressive as he closed game 2 and turned around in the backend of the double header, and a 20 minute interval, to open game 3.

In the bottom of the 1st, Team Carolina would jump on the board.  Buddy Howard (OF, Rabun-Gap Nacoochee, 2022) worked a two out walk and stole second.  Howard would score on a RBI single from Gus Shelton (1B, Randleman HS, 2022).

In the 2nd, Hunter Sloop (RHP, Lake Norman Christian, 2022) took the mound and weathered a little command issue and some spotty defense.  He gave up four, 1 earned, and came back to fire a 0 in his second inning of work.  The big righty was up to 91 on the day.

The next arm for Team Carolina was William Bryant (RHP, Myers Park HS, 2022).  Bryant was extremely efficient, using a three pitch mix and flooding the strike zone.  The fastball peaked at 91 with a change-up that created swing and miss.  Bryant would run into a barrel in the 4th, extending Team Georgia's lead to 5-1.  In the 5th, Team Georgia would manufacture another run, moving to a 6-1 lead.

Team Carolina quickly answered in the 5th, posting 2 runs to cut the lead to 6-3, and building momentum into their final couple of at-bats.  A walk and hit-by-pitch put two runners on.  After a fielder's choice, Jordan Overton (OF, Rolesville HS, 2022) delivered an RBI single through the 6 hole.  Rom Kellis (3B, P27 Academy, 2022) would follow with a SAC Fly to left, scoring Shelton.

In the top of the 6th, Joey Hylinski (RHP, Legion Collegiate Academy, 2022) bumped 87 early while filling up the strike zone.  After a lightening strike within 10 miles, the teams were pulled off the field.  Hylinski was scheduled to be Team Carolina's final arm and after an hour, Team Carolina and Team Georgia agreed to end the game.
