The Best of 2020: No. 5 Top Story

Brandon Hall
Executive Director of Scouting, PBR NC

Prep Baseball Report is committed to bringing the news of amateur baseball to our readers and subscribers.  Throughout the year PBR's staff will report on players, teams, events, tournaments, the draft, and general baseball news.  With the setup of PBR being a "boots on the ground" approach, with scouts in states and territories, allowing the ability to skew reports and news to the readers of that area.  Below we take a look at some of the top stories of 2020, based on web site views and social media popularity.

NO. 5 TOP STORY OF 2020 -- 2020 Event Statistical Analaysis

The events in NC, run by PBR allow players to update their PBR Profile, a function that saw over 30 million hits in 2020.  The PBR Profile includes players news, evaluations, video, rankings, and statistics.  For college coaches the statistics are searchable and sort-able, allowing staffs to quickly add players to their recruiting boards.

In 2020, the No. 5 most viewed story on PBR was the Statistical Analysis after events.  The analysis stories allowed players, coaches, and scouts a quick peak at some of the standout performances from players attending an event just a couple of days prior.  Statistics could include a laser timed 60, top fastball reading, exit velocity off the bat, or an arm grade from a position.  While stats do not always tell the full story, it does give some feel for the overall prospect and where their tool set may grade out.

The Statistical Analysis story is a staple of all post-event stories, across the PBR platform.  Look for continued innovation from PBR in the way stats are displayed and processed.  After events, the stats can begin to tell the story.
