Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

As we wind down another great year, we begin to take a look back at 2018.  After drilling down into our google analytics, we have compiled a list of the twenty most viewed PBR profiles in North Carolina.  Beginning on December 17th and ending on December 30th, we will dive into the profiles that garnered the most hits in 2018.

The player profiles in PBR’s vast database received well over 7.5 million hits in 2018.  Players from each region in North Carolina drove coaches, scouts, and fans to their PBR profile to learn more.  Today we take a look at No. 12 in the 2018 countdown of the most viewed profiles from North Carolina

No. 12 – Luke Barrow

Barrow made initial waves as part of the Preseason All-State event in January.  His performance and advanced slider at the Queen City Pre-Summer ID got him a spot on the PBR Future Games roster for Team Carolina.  Barrow later accepted an offer from Coastal Carolina, where as a committed player he was removed from the Team Carolina roster.  At the Top Prospect Games at Campbell in August, it was obvious he has continued to advance.  As Wesleyan Christian Academy works to defend their 2018 state Title, count on continuing to hear from Barrow.

Scouting Report

08.07.18
Coastal Carolina commit.  Athleticism is present.  Average build at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds.  Fastball down just a bit from earlier in the summer at 83-84, but still jumping on hitters and getting chases when elevated.  Slider is an out pitch waiting to happen.  Advanced spin and feel, sitting 76-79.  Power 10/4 tilt with hard length at times.  Slider disappeared under bats, in the zone, and created chase out of the zone.  Big trust in the slider.  Average to high leg kick, working on-line and level.  Good head stability over the rubber at balance.  Long arm swing and quick hand get to a high-3/4 slot.

05.23.18
Wide shoulder and athletic build at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds.  Still room to add strength in the coming years. Projects well.  Filled up the strike zone with good tempo, extension, and a feel for an advanced slider.  Fastball sat 84-86, with occasional arm side run. Slider has depth and tight spin at 77-78, with feel.  Sharp and late, the slider attacks the zone with fastball arm speed. Flashes average feel for a change at 80.  Some fade as the arm slows slightly. Works level and on-line as a quick arm gets to a high-¾ slot. Regular effort, lands in an athletic position.

01.28.18
Wide shoulders and an athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. Works with ease, repeating the delivery.  Commands three pitches with an ability to work the fastball to both sides of the plate.  Strike thrower.  Good rhythm in an athletic delivery works to a loose, easy arm swing and high-3/4 release.  Fastball worked 80-82, straight, commanding the glove.  Breaking ball sits 71-74 with gradual shape out of the hand.
