As we wind down another great year, we begin to take a look back at 2018.  After drilling down into our google analytics, we have compiled a list of the twenty most viewed PBR profiles in North Carolina.  Beginning on December 17th and ending on December 30th, we will dive into the profiles that garnered the most hits in 2018.

The player profiles in PBR’s vast database received well over 7.5 million hits in 2018.  Players from each region in North Carolina drove coaches, scouts, and fans to their PBR profile to learn more.  Today we take a look at No. 16 in the 2018 countdown of the most viewed profiles from North Carolina

No. 16 – Chandler Riley

A 2020 graduate from Cox Mill HS, Riley was invited and attended the prestigious PBR Future Games in August as a member of Team Carolina.   An advanced left-handed hitter, his athleticism has continued to improve and the Charlotte commit improved his arm strength in 2018, providing coaches and scouts an opportunity to play him anywhere on the infield.  Riley also attended the Top Prospect Games at Campbell this past summer.  Ranked in the top 20 in NC, and the Top 500 Overall in the 2020 class, there were plenty of coaches, players, and fans following his progress throughout 2018.

Scouting Report

08.07.18
Charlotte commit, making his declaration shortly after the Top Prospect Games.  6 feet, 160-pound build.  Hits form the left side using an athletic, open setup.  Smooth load using a small leg kick.  Fluid swing, getting his lower half through the ball.  Impressed in batting practice, with loose hands and above average bat speed, driving balls to all fields. Exit velocity recorded at 87 mph. Athletically plays through balls on the infield, with fluid feet and soft hands. Funnels to the center of his body after catch, with quick, clean exchanges and short arm action, with the ability to throw from different slots. Accurate arm that topped at 80 mph across the diamond. Looks to get his swing off in game with an aggressive approach.  Shows the ability to barrel the ball with power potential. Recorded a 7.3 in the 60-yard dash.

08.05.18
Charlotte commit, selecting his school of choice shortly after the Future Games.  Average frame at 6-foot, 160 pounds. Strength is present in his hands. Left handed hitter is advanced in the box with bat speed and a feel for the barrel.  Exit velocity peaked at 87 mph but his ability to maximize his strength at contact showed up throughout the week. Narrow stance and quiet in his setup. Slight lag in the bat head, maintaining a consistent position through to the launch.  Slight leg kick and medium stride, gliding slightly to the front side with good rhythm. Aggressive to the baseball in the zone. Good head discipline. Recognizes pitches from both left and right handed pitchers and when he swings he is typically on the barrel.  Works for extension and finishes up on his front side. Solid athlete that will be able to play multiple spots moving forward. Ran a 7.15 sixty and showed baseball IQ and presence moving from 3B to SS, to 2B and into the OF on occasion without much stress. Defensively, there is average carry, with accuracy at 81 mph across the diamond.  Tends to receive the ball off the middle to right hip, picking through to his transition at times. Hands are active. Good bend in the hips, working low at the catch. Medium to long arm swing as he works to a vertical position and over-the-top slot. Some effort in the throw when showing range.

08.10.17
Aggressive, flat, and with barrel awareness from the left side of the plate.  Exit velocity up to 84, but played better in BP and in game, where he drove the baseball to the opposite gap and to deep center field.  Open setup, a slight leg kick loads the weight back, prior to an aggressive stride.  Loose, works to get on top of his front side.  Stays in rhythm with a quick bat producing line drives.  Head discipline may improve some.  Loose on the infield with ‘V-cut’ footwork around the ball.  Average hands and active feet transition the ball cleanly to the mid-section.  Long arm action worked from an over-the-top and high-3/4 slot showing some accuracy and carry.  Arm topped at 74 across the diamond, but there is more in there from watching the games.  Ran a 7.57 sixty.
