Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

As we wind down another great year, we begin to take a look back at 2018.  After drilling down into our google analytics, we have compiled a list of the twenty most viewed PBR profiles in North Carolina.  Beginning on December 17th and ending on December 30th, we will dive into the profiles that garnered the most hits in 2018.

The player profiles in PBR’s vast database received well over 7.5 million hits in 2018.  Players from each region in North Carolina drove coaches, scouts, and fans to their PBR profile to learn more.  Today we take a look at No. 4 in the 2018 countdown of the most viewed profiles from North Carolina

No. 4 – Liam Norris

As the top rated player in the 2020 class in NC, Norris has received a lot of interest.  In the last year he committed to North Carolina and made the USA Baseball 18U Trials roster.  Norris was also a big part of the run Green Hope HS made at USA Baseball’s National High School Invitational where the Falcons became the first North Carolina club to make the event’s finals.

Scouting Report

07.15.18
Up and down in several appearances this summer in front of PBR staff.  The ceiling is unquestioned as the ball rips out of the hand.  Works to find his mechanical base and when it syncs he can be electric.  When he fights to find it, he can be flat.  Still betting on the high ceiling with a fastball that will be elite in the 2020 class.

06.27.17
Physical frame with defined lower half in a 6-foot-3, 195 pound body.  Short arm action works to a high-3/4 slot, getting extension.  Quick arm speed and arm strength to go with it.  Fastball ramped up to 90-92, jumping on hitters.  Controlled the zone but did not command the glove.  Slider ranged 77-81.  At 79 and 81, the slider showed hard, late tilt, burying underneath swings, exploding to the plate.

04.04.17
Lanky with long levers.  Listed at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds.  Body has plenty of room to continue to mature and add strength.  Throws from a high-3/4 slot with a short, clean, strong arm swing, that works to load the scapular.  Tall and controlled at balance and throws slightly across his body.  Fastball ramped up to 91 early in the outing, sitting 87-90 in the first inning and 84-87 in his third inning.  Breaking ball is 70 – 71 mph with an 11/5 action.  Slider has tilt and touched 74.  Flashed a change-up at 75.  Throws strikes but fights for command.  Control over command at this young age.  No reason to believe the command will continue to come as he matures.

09.05.16
Lanky and athletic presence.  High tempo delivery that has some moving parts as he shifts on the rubber through the rocker and tilts uphill with his shoulders at balance.  A high-3/4 slot with a quick, whippy hand works to get downhill.  Fastball touched 87, sitting 85-87.  Slider flashed, ranging 74-77, with some advanced action, late with tilt, producing swing and miss from left and right handed hitters.
