Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

As we wind down another great year, we begin to take a look back at 2018.  After drilling down into our google analytics, we have compiled a list of the twenty most viewed PBR profiles in North Carolina.  Beginning on December 17th and ending on December 30th, we will dive into the profiles that garnered the most hits in 2018.

The player profiles in PBR’s vast database received well over 7.5 million hits in 2018.  Players from each region in North Carolina drove coaches, scouts, and fans to their PBR profile to learn more.  Today we take a look at No. 9 in the 2018 countdown of the most viewed profiles from North Carolina

No. 9 – Bryson Hammer

The second of the Hammer brothers to appear in the top 20, Bryson slightly edged Zach for top billing.  A Clemson commit, Hammer made waves with several big performances throughout the high school season and then a good showing at the State Games of NC.  Time will tell if he follows his brother in route to signing out of high school or if he decides a different route, attending school first.

Scouting Report

09.25.18

Clemson commit.  Athletic frame with long limbs, standing 6-foot-1, 160 pounds.  Long arm swing with uphill leverage through the shoulders works to an over-the-top slot.   When on time, the  leverage in the shoulders creates deception with the front side and angle to the fastball.  As timing is behind the front side leaves the line early creating some erratic command.  High leg kick working on-line with a closed toe at foot strike.  Fastball at 87-88 with growth still ahead.  Cuts it when locating glove side.  May play harder than radar reading, creating a lot of swing and miss in the zone and above it.  Tight 1/7 tilt to a hard breaking ball at 75-77.  Potential out pitch as he commands it.  Velocity in the stretch did dip to 82-86.

05.11.18
Fastball sat 86-88, touching 89 early.  Breaking ball at 73-76. 63% strikes on the night, working ahead 50% of the time on 1st pitch.

03.05.18
Uncommitted. Long, projectable, athletic build. Solid tempo and rhythm in his delivery with a long arm action working to an over the top slot. Good angle on both the fastball and curveball. Fastball ranged 85-87, topping at 88. Creates angle on the fastball with an ability to locate in to right hand hitters. CB is firm with tilt and 12/6 action at 72-74, throwing it for strikes.  Locates both the fastball and curveball when he controls his head and keeps his body in line to the plate getting extension out front.
