Top Viewed NC Profiles of 2019

No. 9 Bryson Hammer

A Clemson commit, Hammer is a left-hander in the 2020 class that will have a pro following as he begins his spring season.  Throughout 2019, Hammer continued to show big stuff on big stages, with a dominating fastball up to 90 for PBR scouts.  He pairs the fastball with a big, overhand breaking ball that creates a lot of awkward takes and bad chases.  The change-up has come a long way in the last year becoming a weapon, giving Hammer three average to above pitches as he continues to move forward.

Below is a full look at Hammer's PBR profile with notes, news, and video.

Scouting Report

09.25.18

Clemson commit.  Athletic frame with long limbs, standing 6-foot-1, 160 pounds.  Long arm swing with uphill leverage through the shoulders works to an over-the-top slot.   When on time, the  leverage in the shoulders creates deception with the front side and angle to the fastball.  As timing is behind the front side leaves the line early creating some erratic command.  High leg kick working on-line with a closed toe at foot strike.  Fastball at 87-88 with growth still ahead.  Cuts it when locating glove side.  May play harder than radar reading, creating a lot of swing and miss in the zone and above it.  Tight 1/7 tilt to a hard breaking ball at 75-77.  Potential out pitch as he commands it.  Velocity in the stretch did dip to 82-86.

05.11.18
Fastball sat 86-88, touching 89 early.  Breaking ball at 73-76. 63% strikes on the night, working ahead 50% of the time on 1st pitch.

03.05.18
Uncommitted. Long, projectable, athletic build. Solid tempo and rhythm in his delivery with a long arm action working to an over the top slot. Good angle on both the fastball and curveball. Fastball ranged 85-87, topping at 88. Creates angle on the fastball with an ability to locate in to right hand hitters. CB is firm with tilt and 12/6 action at 72-74, throwing it for strikes.  Locates both the fastball and curveball when he controls his head and keeps his body in line to the plate getting extension out front.
