Wake Forest Over Clayton Despite Hall's Two Homers

Clayton – 4                        Wake Forest – 5

PBR was on the road again on Wednesday, out across the state of North Carolina.  One game in particular saw Wake Forest HS hosting Clayton HS.  A back and forth game would not be decided until the final at-bat of the game.

In the first, Clayton jumped out to a 2-0 lead via a 2-run home run off the bat of Reynolds Hall, clearing the center field wall and scoring Clay Clinard.  Clayton would increase their lead with a second homer off the bat of Hall, this one to left field.  The two run shot scored Tristan Roney who doubled with one out to get the inning rolling.

Wake Forest starter Isaac Williams would settle in after the 3rd.  The senior only allowed the 4 runs while striking out 11 in the complete game.  Williams would not be threatened again in the game, facing 16 hitters over the final 4 innings of work.

The Cougar offense would get started in the bottom of the 3rd, down 4-0.  Singles from Jordan Allen and Kahlil Watson set the table as Blake Kolesnik singled to right scoring Jordan Allen, and advancing Watson to 3B.  Watson would score on a steal of home to cut the lead to 4-2.

Wake Forest got on the board again in the 4thNevin Norville led off the inning with a homer to center.   With 2 outs, Cooper Allen singled to right, scoring Joshua Wilson, who walked after the Norville homer. 

The game remained tied at 4 entering the bottom of the 7th.  C Allen doubled to lead off the inning, followed by walked to Watson and Kolesnik.  Luke Stevenson earned the game winning RBI, getting hit by a pitch to plate C Allen, giving Wake Forest the 5-4 win.
