PBR Staff
Prep Baseball Report

Player of the Week nominations are submitted by High School coaches across North Carolina each week.  Along with the nominations, Prep Baseball Report is diving into box scores, talking to coaches and scouts, and attending as many games as possible.

PBR's staff sifts through the information sent in and seen by our scouts to determine the PBR Player of the Week every Tuesday.  You can see a full list of players off to a hot start in Diamond Notes, a collection of notes, stats, and highlights from the past week, published every Wednesday during the season.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - MARCH 13 - 18, 2023

Nathan Teague, RHP, Southern Alamance HS, 2023
A 6-foot-7, 220 pound senior with a ton of upside turned in a dominating performance on Tusday of last week, handing Chapel Hill their first loss of the season.  Teague, a Vanderbilt commit, tossed 7 innings, giving up 1 hit while striking out 15 without issuing a walk.  The Patriot offense gave Teague a run in the bottom of the 1st, eventually securing a 3-0 lead, and that is all he would need as he was dealing.  For the game, Teague threw 95 pitches, 65 for strikes, a 68% clip.  Along with the 15 K’s, the Tiger offense was limited to 2 fly balls and 2 ground ball outs.  Teague started off 58% of the 24 hitters faced with a strike.

Down 5-1 in game 2 of the series, Asheboro plated 9 runs in the bottom of the 3rd, capped off by Marsh’s 3-run homerun.  Asheboro went 2-0 on the week with Marsh’s stat line reading, 5-5, 2B, 3B, HR, 5R, 3RBI, 3BB.  He had a 1.000 batting average, 1.000 on base percentage, slugged 2.200.
