Week 2 Power 25 Baseball Rankings: Updated Standings and Key Performances

Week 2 of the high school baseball season brought thrilling performances, standout individual efforts, and key wins that reshaped the rankings. Here’s a breakdown of the updated Power 25 rankings along with notable performances from the past week.

1. TC Roberson (4-1) [Previous Rank: 1]

TC Roberson solidified its top ranking with a victory over Power 25 opponent Burns. Holt Gaston and Micah Simpson delivered dominant performances on the mound, while Caden Davidson led the offense.

2. Charlotte Catholic (3-1) [Previous Rank: 2]

Charlotte Catholic split a pair of games against Providence High School. Alex Hoffman was impressive, striking out eight in four innings, while Matt McKnight and Cooper Gornett each hit home runs.

3. Metrolina Christian (6-0) [Previous Rank: 3]

The Warriors continued their scorching start with another perfect 3-0 week. Offensive standouts included Alex Lerch and Jackson Pierce, while Case Gibbs and Chase Kiker maintained dominance on the mound.

4. Ashley (4-0) [Previous Rank: 5]

Ashley moved up a spot after securing a major win over Power 25 Corinth Holders. Quinn Bentley’s seven-hit week powered the offense, and the pitching staff was anchored by Cole Barnes and Jackson Lee.

Grace Christian’s pitching was dominant, striking out 41 batters in 17 innings. Matt Murchison powered the offense with two home runs and six RBIs.

Brandon Worsley and Christian Chance delivered strong performances on the mound, while Rahkeem Williams continued his hot start at the plate.

10. JH Rose (4-1) [Previous Rank: 12]

JH Rose’s offense exploded, scoring 31 runs with 10 extra-base hits and eight stolen bases.

11. Hickory Grove Christian (3-1) [Previous Rank: 15]

Despite a short week, Hickory Grove Christian’s offense delivered, led by a home run from Zach White and a three-hit performance by Von Pelow.

West Forsyth swept Davie County behind Greyson Jones’ 12-strikeout performance and Parker Trexler’s two saves. Will Holden drove in four runs.

21. Gaston Christian (2-0) [Previous Rank: 24]

The offense erupted for 24 runs in two games, tallying five extra-base hits and 19 steals.

22. Covenant Day (3-1) [New Entry]

A newcomer to the rankings, Covenant Day had a strong week despite a tough one-run loss to Grace Christian. Grant Garner (5 IP, 12 K) leads a talented rotation.

23. Millbrook (5-0) [New Entry]

Millbrook entered the rankings with two impressive road wins. Connor Wright (5 IP, 11 K) and Hayden Heath (3.1 IP, 8 K) led a dominant pitching staff.

24. Weddington (2-2) [Previous Rank: 21]

James Yanz led the offense with five hits, including a home run. Luzarraga and McGlaufin continued to shine on the mound (6 IP, 14 K).

25. Broughton (3-2) [Previous Rank: 23]

Broughton’s starters excelled, as Sam Harris and Mason Hawkins combined for 10 innings, allowing only four hits while striking out 14.
