Chase Kiker RHP / 3B / Metrolina Chrisitan Academy, NC / 2026Chase Kiker’s 2024 season was nothing short of remarkable. The right-handed pitcher (RHP), who will also have the opportunity to showcase his skills as a hitter at the next level, began the year with an impressive display of his offseason development during the Preseason All-State event. His frame, now more physically developed, moved more efficiently down the mound, generating exceptional arm whip and showcasing his improved mechanics. In the spring, Kiker played a pivotal role in leading Metrolina Christian’s talent-packed roster to the NCISAA 4A State Title with a victory over Wesleyan Christian. This championship performance elevated Metrolina Christian to the No. 1 spot in the season-ending Prep Baseball NC Power 25 rankings. Kiker carried his momentum into the summer while competing with the Dirtbags. Week after week, he faced top-tier competition, solidifying his status as a high-level prospect with consistent standout performances. His efforts earned him an invitation to the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games. Starting on the mound for Team NC in Game 2, Kiker delivered a dominant outing, striking out six batters across two innings. In a key moment during his second inning, Kiker overcame a bases-loaded, no-out situation—caused by two defensive errors—by striking out the next three hitters in front of over 400 college coaches, demonstrating his composure and high-level competitiveness. Thanks to his relentless work ethic and on-field success, Kiker became a highly sought-after prospect. In early fall, he committed to continue his baseball career at Clemson University. As he enters his junior year, Kiker has already garnered attention from Major League Baseball (MLB) scouts, who are beginning their evaluations for the 2026 MLB Draft. Following the conclusion of the 2025 Draft, professional attention will intensify around the 2026 class, with Kiker expected to be among the top names on area scouts’ radar as they prepare for their assessments. |

Gavin Jackson demonstrated significant progress in 2024, earning spots on leaderboards throughout the year and generating interest based on his impressive metrics, particularly in comparison to his peers. His year began with a strong showing at the Burlington Preseason ID, a new event for the preseason. The limited roster provided Prep Baseball scouts an opportunity to closely evaluate each athlete, and Jackson’s performance, highlighted by his strength during batting practice, caught the attention of those in attendance. As the spring season approached, Jackson updated his stats and video at the ZT Prospects Carolina Organizational Scout Day. Continuing to display notable power at the plate, Jackson saw his stock rise, earning him a spot on the rankings list heading into summer. His standout performances at the Preseason ID and Scout Day secured him invitations to the NC/SC Border Battle and the Top Prospect Games. In both events, Jackson excelled during workout sessions and proved his capabilities against some of the region’s top pitchers with strong in-game at-bats. During the fall, Prep Baseball scouts from North Carolina and Virginia observed Jackson in tournament play. He capped off his year with a notable showing at the Fall Upperclass Top Prospect Games. Josh Hammond SS / RHP / Wesleyan Christian Academy, NC / 2025The top-rated players in each state under Prep Baseball's coverage naturally attract significant attention. Athletes ranked within the top 10 of their class rankings frequently see visits to their profiles. However, certain prospects distinguish themselves by consistently seeking challenges and embracing opportunities to be tested against elite competition. Josh Hammond exemplifies this mindset. A dynamic two-way talent, Hammond is poised to command the attention of MLB scouts throughout the upcoming spring. Known for his impressive versatility, he has been clocked at 95 mph on the mound, while Prep Baseball has also recorded batting practice exit velocities exceeding 105 mph. Currently, Prep Baseball NC scouts assign a slightly higher grade to Hammond’s potential as a position player, but his abilities in both the batter’s box and on the mound will be closely monitored. Hammond began his 2024 campaign leading Wesleyan Christian, the top-ranked team in the Preseason Prep Baseball NC Power 25. Their season included competing at USA Baseball’s National High School Invitational, where Hammond excelled both as a pitcher and hitter. Later in the spring, Wesleyan Christian aimed to cap off a dream season but fell just short in a thrilling matchup against Metrolina Christian Academy during the first-ever No. 1 vs. No. 2 Power 25 State Championship series. The series delivered on its high expectations, showcasing the best high school baseball in the state. One of the few two-time attendees of the Prep Baseball All-American Game, Hammond arrived in Miami in the fall of 2024 as a player to watch. Having earned MVP honors in 2023, he entered this year’s event with the spotlight squarely on him. Throughout the weekend, Hammond rose to the occasion, performing at an elite level among his peers. During the workout day, Hammond impressed in batting practice, replicating the raw power he displayed as a junior. He advanced to the finals of the Home Run Derby, demonstrating his ability to hit for both power and consistency. On game day, Hammond delivered on the big stage with two hits, including a double into the gap. Late in the game, he showcased his skills on the mound, pitching a seamless inning against some of the top hitters in the 2026 class. A Wake Forest commit, Hammond faces an important decision regarding his future as the summer approaches. One thing is certain—he will remain under the spotlight. Known for his fierce competitiveness and ability to thrive in high-pressure situations, Hammond draws the attention of players, scouts, coaches, and baseball fans alike. Prep Baseball is excited to continue following his progression in the years ahead. |
