2025 Nebraska High School Team Previews, Volume II

Prep Baseball Nebraska strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. Prep Baseball is the number one resource for high school baseball in each state that we cover through various events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work together, creating each state's most potent high school baseball promotion source. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

MALCOLM CLIPPERS

Head Coach: Zach Wehner (3 seasons, 62-12)

Class: Class C
2024 Record: 23-3, Class C State Champions

Coach's Comment:
"Heading into this season we know we have a lot of work to do. We have to fill a lot of pitching that we lost from last years seniors. This year's team has the ability, and drive to be something special. They are all willing to put in the work and know what it takes."

NORFORK PANTHERS

Head Coach: Brian Disch (6 seasons, 44-85)

Class: Class A
2024 Record: 11-14

Coach's Comment:
"We did lose 7 position player starters and 4 pitchers from last season, but we do return 2 position player starters and 3 pitchers to go along with some seniors that got quality reps at the JV level last season. We expect to continue to improve throughout the season as players gain Varsity experience and be a very competitive team by the end of the season."

OMAHA BRYAN BEARS

Head Coach: Trey Ashby (3 seasons, 16-53)

"We have improved each year I've been the coach at BHS, and we look to keep that trend going. We have set goals is to accomplish things that BHS hasn't done in nearly a decade."

GRAND ISLAND ISLANDERS

Head Coach: Kirby Wells (4 seasons, 49-48)

2024 Record: 15-9

Coach's Comment:
"We will have 9 players back with varsity experience. We will rely on our Senior leadership and experience of our guys playing and competing at a high level. We will need some new players step up on the mound. We lost two key arms to graduation, and will look for some Juniors to have some big innings this year. Ethan Coslor, Gabe Ruiz, Sam Dinkelman, Gage Gannon, and Grayson Sack are our top pitchers returning in 2025. Broxton Barrientos is coming off a great Summer hitting .478 with 77 hits on the season. Sam Dinkelman will be a key leader for our team hitting .323 last summer. Gage Gannon, Grayson Sack, Gabe Ruiz, Ian Arends, Ethan Coslor, Trent Verplank, Gavin Haubold, and Sam Schroeder are players with experience and looking for them do have a great season."

NORRIS TITANS

Head Coach: Sean Bartholomew (8 seasons, 161-56)

Class: Class B
2024 Record: 25-5, Class B State Champions

"We lost several key leaders and contributors from last season's state title team. We're hoping to see some of our upperclassmen take on more of a leadership role throughout the year. We have several young/inexperienced players who have opportunities to play big roles this spring."

BELLEVUE WEST THUNDERBIRDS

Head Coach: Jason Shockey (11 seasons, 535-222 career)

"We return a solid nucleus from last summer's state runner-up team. Having said that, we will be looking to fill several spots from the 9 seniors who graduated. Our senior leaders will be key in helping navigate our younger players through a challenging schedule, in hopefully reaching our goals in 2025."

PAPILLION LAVISTA MONARCHS

Head Coach: Nate McCabe (11 seasons)

"We return 3/4 top arms and have added some nice pieces to fill in some holes. I expect us to pitch and play D. We will need to find a way to become a more offensive team."

"I am excited about this group and the core we have coming back. However, we lost some key players at key positions that we will need our guys coming back to step up to the challenge and fill those roles. We will have a challenging schedule that should prepare us for the postseason. It's very important that our guys come to work everyday and challenge themselves and each other for us to reach our potential."
