2025 Nebraska High School Team Previews, Volume IV

Prep Baseball Nebraska strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. Prep Baseball is the number one resource for high school baseball in each state that we cover through various events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work together, creating each state's most potent high school baseball promotion source. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

KEARNEY BEARCATS

"We have a much more experienced group from last season coming off a good summer. I’m looking forward to see what we can do. We’ll have some changes to our schedule moving to Class B this season."

LINCOLN NORTHWEST FALCONS

"We are fortunate to have the experience from our 2024 Class B State Run and our 2024 Class A Legion State Appearance. We graduated 13 impact seniors last year and are now using the foundation they left to pave the way for our next core group here at LNW. The experience our younger players have gained and been a part of has really motivated our work ethic this off-season. We expect a slight step back in 2025 however, we strategically positioned our younger athletes to gain as much JV & Varsity experience as possible last year so they will be prepared to step up in 2025. We have some great senior leadership who will be heavily relied on to help guide our younger group forward. We expect to continue our growth this year and really position ourselves for success. As we all learned last year, it only takes a good run at the right time."

COLUMBUS DISCOVERERS

Head Coach: John Riedmiller (1 season, 8-18)

"The Columbus Discoverers are looking forward to beginning the 2025 season. The team will need to find a way to replace some pitchers that graduated last year (Jarrett Bell, Alex Griffith, and Preston Hastreiter). The Discoverers are bringing back a group of players with a lot of Varsity innings under their belt, led by Sawyer Kimberling, Quenton Gustafson, Grant Zoucha, Spencer Shotkoski, and Will Wickham. We will look to build on some of the success we had last spring and we are excited about some of the guys that will be looking to fill some positions. There are some younger players that will be looking at playing a lot innings for us. If the team can have some guys step up on the mound and fill up some innings, make routine plays in the field and have the right approach at the plate, we will be competitive."

GROSS CATHOLIC COUGARS

Head Coach: Jim Hempel (4 seasons, 57-40)

"Cougars return six starters, including returning All-State shortstop Carson Kozeal along five pitchers with significant innings from 2024, highlighted by Charlie Yeshnowski, Mercer Dougherty, and Brayden Dollen. The Cougars expect to be very competitive on the mound and on defense while the lineup finds ways to produce runs."

SEWARD BLUEJAYS

Head Coach: Brock Anderson (13 seasons, 141-106)

"We return a strong core of players with a ton of varsity experience. We will have deep pitching and have the potential to make a nice run if we can put everything together at the right time."

LINCOLN NORTHEAST ROCKETS

"Very excited about this group this year. We only graduated 4 guys last year, so we have a lot of varsity ABs and innings returning to pair with some very talented underclassmen. Our large Senior class has done a great job stepping into leadership roles and our underclassmen have been working hard to improve this offseason. We expect to competitive whenever we take the field this spring. Go Rockets!"
