CSn SCOUT DAY: QUICK HITS

________________________________________________________

+ Trey Frahm - Sophomore | Nebraska Commit - The two-way prospect has come into his own throughout the Coyote's Fall schedule, performing on both sides of the ball with the expectations to be a key part of the CSN pitching staff as a power arm that has seen significant improvements in command and overall stuff. The Super 60 attendee has seen his fastball velocity continue to climb over the past two seasons which could be attributed to his improved physical shape, as the ball was jumping out of his hand at 96.99 mph via TrackMan at the CSN Scout Day while running it up to 98 mph during a Fall outing. Though his arm is what projects to carry him in his future baseball career, his bat is something that could not be overlooked as he posted an event best 103.37 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity with a Hard Hit Percentage of 84.6%, also an event best. Frahm has made a serious impression on the CSN and PBR Nevada staff this Fall and could potentially be on track to hearing his name call this July.

+ Calvin Marley - Sophomore | TCU Commit - The recent TCU commit may be the most projectable arm of the group with three pitches that have shown above average actions and more expected to come. Up to 94.59 mph via TrackMan at the CSN Scout Day, his cruising speed usually hovers around 92-94 mph with medium effort that he pairs with an breaking ball the comes in with 11/5 shape and a 2400 Average Spin Rate that he has shown his ability to command and throw for strikes in just about an count. Coming off of Tommy John last year, he has come back this year with the frame and build at 6-foot-4, 225 lbs. to lead the CSN pitching as their projected #1 this Spring.

+ Sayer Diederich - Sophomore | TCU Commit - The Nebraska bounce and recent TCU commit toed the mound at the College of Southern Nevada Scout Day and did not disappoint. Coming out of a 3/4 to high 3/4 slot with a compact, quick arm cycle, his fastball sat 88-90.71 mph, up to 90.82 mph, with present arm side life to go with what may be his best pitch in his slider that works off a similar plane to his fastball with sharp, sweeping action that could be attributed to his 2929.2 Average Spin Rate, earning him the second best Average Breaking Ball Spin Rate in the country. Along with his fastball and slider mix, he featured a heavy changeup that showed both sink and fade to the arm side with an Induced Vertical Break of 17 inches. Diederich will be another key piece of the Coyote rotation this Spring.

________________________________________________________

+ Zac Czerniawski - Sophomore | Uncommitted - The local product joins the CSN pitching staff after a year at Pima Community College and has inserted himself into the conversation of being a potential rotation arm after a string of impressive outings. His loose arm action from a low 3/4 slot allows him to generation considerable movement on each of his three pitches with his 91-92.54 mph reaching up to 14.2 inches of Induced Vertical Break and 15.8 inches of Horizontal Movement. He compliments his fastball with a pair of secondary pitches that include a sweeping slider and a fading changeup that he has consistently shown his ability command. We project Czerniawski to be one of the next few Coyotes taken off the market.

________________________________________________________

+ John Howard Bobo - Sophomore | Uncommitted - Bobo is a "gamer" that has steadily made his way into a key player in the CSN program with present athleticism and a high baseball IQ that amplifies his in-game tools allowing him to hold down the centerfield position while being a catalyst at the top of the batting order in the leadoff spot. At the CSN Scout Day, he posted a 6.78 Laser Timed 60 with excellent underway and closing speed that translates well into his game allowing him to take away hits in both gaps while wreaking havoc on the base paths. His ability on the base paths should not be overshadowed by his ability to get on base posting a .324 batting average as a freshman while becoming a staple in the nationally ranked lineup. Whoever ends up with this prospect is going to get themselves a gem and it may be sooner rather than later.

________________________________________________________

+ Izzy Gutierrez - Sophomore | Uncommitted - A bounce back from South Mountain Community College, Gutierrez found his role in the bullpen in the 2021 season, eating up valuable innings especially in the second half of the year. He projects to be a huge part of the bullpen this upcoming season with an improved arsenal that was on display at the CSN Scout Day. His reworked three pitch mix that includes a fastball ranging from 90-93.17 mph via TrackMan, a cutter that has late action with flashes of slider movement and a split change that lives down it the zone. CSN Pitching Coach, Bryan Gidge, has switch Gutierrez to a "low feel" mix that allows him to repeat his arm speed easily, rely on his strength which is pitching with conviction and that change has paid dividends this Fall with a number of successful outings. He is not only a projectable bullpen arm, but a "dugout guy" as well that brings a ton of energy to the group. Gutierrez is another guy that could be an excellent addition to a four year roster and this Spring he looks to prove that.
