2020 Scout Day: New England Scorpions - Quick Hits

Position Players

  • Nathan Bautista- A left-handed hitting 2024, super balanced approach, line drives to middle of the field, hands really work. Beyond the plate, being athletic with a clean effortless arm will need to add strength.
  • Mason Breton- A right-handed hitter, a 2023, widener setup, short quick swing with lift. Showing clean actions at 3rd base, with plenty of arm clocked at 81 mph.
  • Parker Camelo- A right-handed hitting middle infielder, class of 2023, big surprise, super clean actions, simple short swing. Need to see him.
  • Preston Cunha- A right-handed 2022, ran a 6.90, took another solid round of batting practice, threw it well from outfield, arm was clocked at 83 mph.
  • Collin Harty- A right-handed hitting middle infielder, showed solid actions, simple approach at the plate.
  • Davis Johnson- A left-handed hitter in the 2023 class, committed to Notre Dame, put on a show during batting practice, lacing the baseball all over the yard. Showing plus juice to pull side, exit velocity of 94 mph. Defensively, strong arm, pop time a tick long, needs to shorten and quicken exchange.
  • Colby Kuzman- An athletic left-handed hitting outfielder, short quick pull side swing, an average runner, moves well in outfield. High follow for me.
  • John Mass- A left-handed hitting middle infielder in the class of 2024. Hard line drive approach, more middle to pull side, an average to tick above runner for his age. Shows a soft glove with serious arm strength across the diamond, clocked at 81 mph.
  • Tommy Turner- A right-handed hitting outfielder, showed plus speed with a 6.76 sixty-yard dash. Pop in the hands to all fields, swing is a tick long, needs to shorten over time. Committed to Houston as a two-way player.

Pitchers

  • Kyle Bourque- A right-handed pitcher, a 2022, arm is quick and loose, baseball comes out of the hand very well, heavy arm side sink and run, fastball touched 81 mph, plays harder than that. Showed two good secondary pitchers, continues to climb, will be a mid 80’s guy by next summer.
  • Jake Foster- A right-handed pitcher, committed to URI, controlled, balanced delivery, fastball at 83 mph, with bore actions. Breaking ball has velocity to it, up to 74 mph. Look for him to be a strike thrower at the next level, should see time early.
  • Luc Lavigueur- A right-handed pitcher, committed to Maine, fastball at 80-81 mph, located to both sides, a heavy ball with more in there.
  • Braxton Pearson- A right-handed pitcher, in the class of 2024, shows tons of projection. Fastball in the low 80’s, arm action is long and loose, with added jumps to come. Breaking has velocity to it, clocked at 70-72 mph. Big follow.
  • Tommy Turner- A right-handed pitcher, fastball clocked at 84-87 mph, arm side action, with a heavy, hard slurve. Look for him to pitch right-away at the next level.
