In the process of getting recruited how important are the students GPA and SAT scores?

GPA and SAT are important to getting the best possible degree you can. The better academic schools want to see a higher GPA and SAT score.

As a scout, what do you look for in catchers?

I think scouting a catcher is different for a great number of people. Finding a catcher who can hit in the middle of the order is every pro scouts dream. For college guys, you either go with an offensive catcher who is just alright defensively or you sign a catch and throw guy, who you hope to develop into a contributor offensively.

Do you think Ivy League coaches do a good job recruiting?

I think Ivy League coaches have a tough job because they have to find guys who can play and have the grades. On top of that, the family has to be willing to pay because there are no scholarship's for baseball. Also, they all see the same players and battle for a lot of the same guys. Its not an easy job but the degrees and and the experience are legit.
