New England Editor in Chief/Scout

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR New England will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent the New England states at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Team New England Future Games Spotlight: Trevor Gustavson, C/1B

Trevor GustavsonName: Trevor Gustavson
Position: C/1B
Class: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot-1, 215 pounds
High School: Saint John's
Summer Team(s): North East Baseball

Past Showcase/In-Game Performances:
Date: 6/23/15
Scouting Report: Right-handed hitting catcher with a flat swing and a chance to hit for power as he matures. The tee exit velocity was 90, out of a low stance setup with a wide base. The barrel is flat through the zone. The pop time was 1.99 and he receiving is a bit raw now but can improve with reps. The feet work well on the transfer and needs to throw the top half of the ball. Arm strength needs to improve, 69 from back there. Arm is loose and should be easy for him to improve. Ran a 4.82 out of the box.

Date: 12/6/14
Scouting Report: Power in the bat is the first thing that comes to the forefront when watching this 6-foot-1, 215-pound catcher. Tee exit velocity of 89 mph and the bat is long and strong. The barrel is flat through the zone and the feet are quiet, stable out of a semi-crouched stance. The hand path is simple and clean. The body needs some strength and growth but he could be a dangerous offensive player these next couple years. Threw 76 mph in the infield and 73 behind the dish. Ran a 5.53 40-yard dash and showed loose actions while moving around at the showcase. Pop time of 1.98 with a long arm path and feet that are happy back there. The tools to catch are there, just needs some cleaning of technique and experience. Probably an offensive catcher/first baseman in the future. Definite follow across the board.

Thoughts on being selected to play in PBR's Future Games and representing the New England states: "I am honored to be selected to play in the Futures Game and represent New England. I am looking forward to playing well and getting in front of schools from other parts of the country."

How has PBR helped as far as recruiting and exposure: "PBR has helped me in the recruiting process by giving me an opportunity of play in front of colleges. They have also helped by getting my name recognition through the internet and social media."
