Vermont Spotlight Game: Division III State Championship - No. 1 Enosburg Falls vs No. 3 Randolph

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Top-seeded Enosburg Falls (16-3) rode a complete game effort from junior righty Brayden Howrigan who started a three-run second inning rally with a long double to top third-seeded Randolph and capture its first state title since 2005. Howrigan scattered seven hits and walked two while stranding eight runners, six in scoring position to hold off the Galloping Ghosts.

Randolph picked up its lone run in the top of the first when Hunter Brassard led with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice and after Greg Johnson singled to right, scooted in from third. With Johnson on third, Howrigan retired the next two hitters to end the threat, something he would do in each of the next six frames.

The Hornets (16-3) answered with their three runs in the second. Howrigan led with a double to the warning track in left center. Colby Geddes sacrificed him to third, reaching on an error that also allowed Horrigan to score. A walk to Casey Caforia and a single by Parker Snow loaded the bases. With two outs, junior catcher Noah Swainbank singled to left field scoring Geddes and Caforia to make it 3-1.

The Ghosts would threaten in each inning but Howrigan would bear down getting the final out in each frame leaving a runner in scoring position.
