Mac Bianchi SS / 2B / Noble and Greenough, MA / 2026

SCITUATE, Ma. - Mac Bianchi knows just what he is looking for in a college.

“My priority is the highest academically while still playing baseball at the highest level,” explained the uncommitted Noble & Greenough High School junior. “Finding a balance is what I’m working on now.”

There have been offers from UMass and Brown, visits with Georgetown and Harvard and talks with Penn according to the fourth-rated 2026 shortstop in New England.

“Aug. 1 was pretty busy,” Bianchi related. “I was pretty much on the phone the entire day. It was a cool experience, not what I expected.”

The reason for the strong interest?

“I did a lot of things over the summer, especially the Future Games, that helped,” pointed out Bianchi, who will turn 18 on Dec. 13. “It was amazing exposure.”

Still, the 19th-ranked junior from Massachusetts had some uncertainty when it came to what would happen on the first day that college coaches could make contact with players in the 2026 class.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect at the beginning,” Bianchi said. “The first couple of weeks in August were hectic, but once I started getting calls from coaches and knew what I wanted to say I was getting better and better at presenting myself.”

Credit was also given to older brother, Joseph, for providing assistance.

“My brother had a tough time with his recruitment coming in the middle of Covid,” Bianchi said of his older sibling, a 2021 Noble & Greenough graduate who is now a senior pitching at Bates College. “He’s telling me to slow down, be patient and let things come to you. Don’t be too anxious and don’t just settle. He’s been a big influence, as have been my coaches (high school coach Paul Everett and club coach Pete Mrowka).”

There has been additional aid in getting interest from colleges.

“Prep Baseball has been awesome in helping get my name out there a lot with the Top Prospect Games and Future Games,” Bianchi noted. “College coaches are able to see your stats and metrics and compare them with other great athletes. That’s been important to me in the process, having coaches come and watch me on the field.”

While recruited as a middle infielder, the number two rated 2026 shortstop in Massachusetts points to more that he can provide a college program.

“One thing that helps me is I’m pretty versatile,” Bianchi explained. “If they need an athlete I can play any position.”

Dennis Healy, Prep Baseball New England Co-Scouting Director, has high praise for the 6-1 175-pounder.

“He’s a left-handed hitting middle infielder who can play all three spots in the infield,” Healy noted. “The athleticism is above average, he shows plenty of arm strength and has a good feel for defense. The bat is trending up as he spreads the field and shows a gap-to-gap approach.  The frame can fill out and the foot speed is slightly above average.”

The drive to get better is also there.

“I’m working on getting in the gym as much as possible, getting bigger, faster, stronger,” Bianchi said. “The weight room is a big part of my offseason. I’m trying to bulk up and put on weight while maintaining speed.”

The work ethic is a strength Bianchi pointed out.

“My mindset is nobody can work harder,” the 29th-ranked junior in New England explained. “I’m the hardest worker in the room. Coaches will see that on the field and in the classroom.”

A 3.8 student looking at majoring in business, Bianchi has had most of his interest from schools in the northeast.

“As a New England player most of the coaches I’ve talked to are from the area,” Bianchi related. “I’d love to stay close to home and the size of the school doesn’t matter. I’m just trying to go to an academic school with great baseball. So far the schools I’m talking to check those boxes.”

As for a timeframe on making a decision, sooner is better than later.

“Hopefully, I’m going to try and commit this winter,” Bianchi said. “It will depend on test scores and my grades in school, but I’d like to commit in the next couple of months. That’s my goal.”
