Ryan Moreschi OF / LHP / Austin Prep, MA / 2026Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 1
WAKEFIELD, Ma. - It was a memorable beginning of recruitment for Ryan Moreschi when Aug. 1 hit, with 10 schools reaching out on the initial day that college coaches could make contact with players across America in the 2026 class. “After having a strong high school and summer season as well as a strong performance at the Future Games, I had a feeling I would be receiving some calls and interests from schools,” noted the top-rated junior outfielder in New England, who heard from Boston College, Northeastern, Seton Hall, College of Charleston, Rutgers, StonyBrook, Dayton, UMass Lowell, Fordham and Hofstra. Since then, additional interest has followed from the likes of UMass Amherst, Fairfield, Elon, Winthrop, Mount St. Mary’s, Columbia and Dartmouth. “Ryan is an athletic right-handed hitting outfielder whose skill set is above average,” pointed out Dennis Healy, Prep Baseball New England co-Director of Scouting. “He is a plus runner and defender, and the bat showed extremely well at the Future Games. He handles himself like a player with years of experience.” While no visits or offers have occurred, the eighth-ranked junior in Massachusetts sees his recruitment right on course. “For me, the process has been exactly what I expected,” Moreschi explained. “It has been long, stressful and filled with a lot of unknown. What stands out about it is it has allowed me to speak with different coaches from all over the country.” The fifth-rated uncommitted 2026 in New England pointed to Prep Baseball as a major factor in getting notoriety from college coaches. “In June I went to the New England Top Prospect Games where I had a strong showing, running a 6.5 60 along with 97 exit velocity, and I had a good overall performance during the game,” Moreschi reflected. “This showcase helped me earn a spot to represent Team Massachusetts at the Future Games in Georgia, which really helped me get my name out there. I had a strong performance during the showcase and won Team MVP for the week. That got me a lot of exposure to college coaches and led to many schools being interested.” An improved game was also pivotal in getting looks. “Over the last year, I feel the biggest part of my improvement has been my bat,” the 13th-ranked 2026 in New England noted. “Over a year ago my swing was completely different and overall my approach was not where it needed to be. So, in the winter months of this past year I knew I really needed to work hard on my mechanics and my approach to hitting if I wanted to be where I am today.” The 17-year-old is of the belief he can make an impact at whatever school he decides on. “I would say I am a guy who can bring a lot of energy to a team and can cause a lot of havoc on the base paths,” Moreschi explained. “I would say speed is my biggest attribute and I use it in many different ways, from getting myself on base and in scoring position as well as covering a lot of ground in the outfield. I feel I can be a guy who is versatile, brings a lot of energy, a great teammate, and can make a spark play whenever the team needs one.” A 3.4 student uncertain about a college major at this time, the 5-9 175-pound southpaw has an idea of what he is looking for in a school and program. “I want to be on a team that is surrounded by a great group of players who are competitive and want to win,” related the Austin Prep junior. “It is also very important for me for the school to have a strong academic reputation. When it comes to the coaching staff, I’m looking for a coaching staff that is committed to their players and the program.” It has Moreschi ready for what lies ahead as his recruiting process heats up in 2025. “In the next couple months as I head toward the end of my junior year, I feel my recruitment will pick up and I’ll start to get more interest,” Moreschi concluded. “I don’t have a timeframe on making a commitment, I just want to be patient and wait for the right fit for me and my family.” |
