Penn State commit. Howell's physicality really stood out that the Fall Last Chance Open showcase in October. Lean, athletic 6-foot-2 200 pounds with still some room to add strength. Ran a 7.30 60 yard dash and exit velocity topped at 94 mph. Offensively - starts in a balanced, athletic stance with weight evenly distributed and hands close to his body and bat slightly above back shoulder. Uses a small foot lift and stride to start swing. Easy, fluid load that goes up and back. Compact swing through the zone with some lift on finish. Created an average of 72 mph bat speed and topped at 78 mph. From behind the plate, throws topped at 74 mph with backspin. Pop times were consistently 2.06-2.10 in showcase setting. Explosive out of the crouch, replaces feet and ball jumps out of hand. One of the top risers in the 2023 rankings.
