Digging In: Jupiter Day 2 Notebook

JUPITER, FL - Steady rain wiped out most of Friday’s action, but not all was lost during Day 2 of the WWBA World Championships.

Of the handful of games played, 2019 RHP/SS Sanson Faltine III (Ft. Bend Travis HS, TX) was a clear standout with his true two-way abilities. The highly athletic 6-foot-2, 180-pound Texas recruit did it all in leading the Banditos Scout Team to a 7-2 victory over Baseball U.

On the mound, the right-hander tossed a five-hitter in his 92-pitch complete game. Faltine was consistently around the zone with his fastball-slider combination, throwing 68 percent strikes while striking out seven and walking two.

The live-bodied Faltine is a wiry, loose athlete with long limbs and plenty of room for continued physical development. He works with a confident bounce, gets into his delivery quickly, and consistently repeats with tempo and rhythm. His fastball sat in the 87-88 range, topping at 89, with some arm-side finish through the zone. Faltine throws his slider with confidence, as he filled up the lower half of the zone at 72-76 mph.

Faltine maintained his composure throughout, despite yielding a no-doubt two-run homer to 2018 C Patrick Winkel (Amity HS, CT) in the first inning.
