Adam Laskey is a 2016 left-handed pitcher from Haddon Heights High School, who is committed to Duke University. Laskey is the complete package when dissecting a prospective student-athlete; he is extremely bright, has great character, and is very talented.

On the mound, the 6'2 LHP possesses pitchability and a feel for pitching well advanced for a high school pitcher. His 82-86 mile-per-hour fastball plays up due to his ability to command both sides of the plate down in the zone. He manipulates the baseball like a savvy veteran and will throw it straight, with run, and, occasionally, with some sinking action. He also features a tight slider at 72-73 with late break that produces swing and misses due to his ability to use it for a strike and as a chase pitch. He also throws a changeup which will continue to progress when he gets to Duke in the fall of 2016.

The lefty is very athletic mechanically with a quick, compact arm action. He has an athlete's frame with room for added size. There is no doubt that the young man will develop into a very quality ACC arm for Duke.

PBR: Why did you choose Duke?

Laskey: I chose Duke University because it gives me the opportunity to get an education that is one of the best in the country, while competing in what I believe is the best baseball conference in the country, the ACC. I also fell in love with the campus/location and the entire coaching staff is not only awesome baseball coaches, but awesome people. Head Coach Chris Pollard has won everywhere he has gone and I believe he is turning the program around down at Duke too.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Laskey: I had scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Pitt, Wake Forest, and Duke. I also drew heavy recruiting interest from Virginia Tech, Boston College, University of Miami, and Stanford, St Johns, and Michigan. All are great schools, but I felt Duke was the best fit for me.

PBR: Duke University is a highly regarded academic institution with many different avenues to direct your studies. What major(s) are you considering?

Laskey: My best subject is Math and I enjoy it, so I am interested in doing something with business or money, therefore I am looking into economics and mathematics as my majors.

PBR: You are going to be playing your collegiate baseball in the ACC, which is a very high level of baseball. Being that you've committed early, you now have the opportunity to take your focus away from the recruiting process and pay closer attention to developing your game. What areas would you like to improve upon the most before heading to Duke in the fall of 2016?

Laskey: I would like to work on continuing to locate my pitches everywhere in the strike zone, especially on the inside part of the plate. I also need to continue to keep getting stronger in the weight room which will lead to making my velocity go up and help prevent injury.

PBR: What major league pitcher would you say you resemble the most and why?

Laskey: I would say I resemble Greg Maddux the most and try to model myself after him because of his ability to throw strikes with any pitch in any count. As a pitcher, I pride myself on getting ahead in counts, hitting my spots, and being a ground ball pitcher just like he was.

PBR: What is the toughest high school lineup you have faced this year?

Laskey: The toughest high school lineup I faced was in a scrimmage vs Bishop Eustace. Top to bottom their lineup could hit.

PBR: Who is the best hitter you have faced this high school season?

Laskey: The best hitter who I faced this high school season was Chris Jones from Bishop Eustace, who is committed to High Point University. I played with him in the summer, and he always has tough at bats against me as well as other pitchers.
