Background

Matt Semon is 6-foot-1, 170 pounds and possesses a projectable, long frame. The right-handed pitcher attends Don Bosco Prep, one of the best high school programs in the state. He has stood out at two different Prep Baseball Report events thus far; the 2015 Underclass Games and the Battle on the Border at Marist College. He pitched two very easy scoreless innings against the representative team from PBR New York.

Scouting Report

Semon pitches with low effort and good rhythm mechanically. He has an extremely loose, clean arm action and pitches from a ¾ arm slot. His fastball is 79-82 miles-per-hour with two-seam run and sink when thrown in the bottom third of the strike zone. He has an above average feel for his secondary pitches as well. His curveball is 11-to-5 in shape with late action at 67-70 MPH and he keeps solid arm speed on his changeup that mimics his fastball in action. He certainly has more velocity in the tank and, with continued feel for his secondary pitches, should be highly sought after.
