The 2023 Player Rankings have been updated to reflect gains made from the preseason and impact players have made through the first part of the high school spring season. There have been some shakeups in the top 10, with one newcomer skyrocketing with an impressive showing thus far in the spring.

Top 10 Breakdown

+ Ryan Jaros has remained steady in the top 3 and has risen back to the top slot. Jaros, a Georgia Tech commit and right handed corner infiedler, possesses the power production and glove to be a mainstay as the prototypical power hitting corner infielder.

+ AJ Gracia's two-way talent cannot go overlooked in this class. A lefty power hitting outfielder, Gracia fits the mold of recent Duke commits who have excelled on both ends of the game a la 2021 grad Jimmy Romano (St. Joe's Montvale) who was one of the top hitters in the state last spring.

+ Eric Becker has become one of the most feared hitters in the Non-Public A group, not to mention the state. A solid fielder with soft hands and the arm to remain at SS, Becker's quiet, effortless lefty stroke has propelled Don Bosco Prep into being hands down the top team in the state through the first half of the season.

+ Steven Echavarria, an Oregon commit has arguably the highest ceiling out of anyone in this class. Lanky 6-foot-2 180-pound frame with long wiry limbs and an easy, effortless arm stroke, Ech's sinker-slider combo is tough to get a barrel on. A consistent low 90's guy when he's on, Ech possesses the arm strength and overall athleticism to get that extra oomph as the weather continues to warm.

+ Justin Herbstman still has some filling out to do, but the command of three plus pitches from the left side really stands out. Up to 89 a few weeks ago, Herbstman is able to throw the breaker and changeup in any count and shows pitchability as he's able to add and subtract velo from all three pitches as well. 

The Newcomer

+ Alex Kranzler, a recent decommit, is certainly in the mix for player of the year in NJ. A physical, broad shouldered frame at 6-foot-2 205-pounds, Kranzler has fanned 78 in 49 IP, and the velocity has held steady in the low 90s, touching 93 a couple weeks ago.
