GET TO KNOW: ALEX WEINGARTNER
Tell us about the decision-making process for your commitment? How excited are you to play there?
I am really happy with my decision to commit to play at Penn State. This decision-making was a fun experience, and I am very excited to get up to State College.
If you were a baseball scout and just watched yourself play, what would that scouting report look like?
I would say that this player has an athletic build and can make an impact on the mound and at the plate. I would also say that this player is a competitor.
We are knee-deep into the off-season schedule. Tell us about your training, and spring preparation.
In the off-season, I lift 4 times a week and make sure I stay on top of my recovery. On the throwing side, I follow a slow build up starting from 20 yards all the way to long toss before getting on the mound. For hitting, I use overload and under-load bats to work on my bat speed.
Name three goals for the upcoming season.
1.) Win the Diamond Classic Tournament 2.) Win a State Championship 3.) Win our conference tournament
Do you have any pregame superstitions?
I always drink a Gatorade before the game starts.
Who is the best player you have played against in your high school career so far? What makes that player so good?
The hardest pitcher I faced so far in high school would probably be Landon Mack. Had good velo and his off speed was sharp.
Who would you say your baseball role model is? Why?
I would say Gerrit Cole is my baseball role model. I really like watching him pitch, he attacks hitters, and he has good intensity on the mound.
