Get to Know: Nick Becker

Tell us about the decision-making process for your commitment? How excited are you to play there?

Becker: Growing up, always wanted to go to Duke because my dad went there. Duke didn't work out but fell in love with UVA. The program and culture is different and the coaching staff is one fo the best in the country. It is a place that will maximize my potential as a baseball player, and is cool that I can get the opportunity to play with my brother.

If you were a baseball scout and just watched yourself play, what would that scouting report look like?

Becker: Defensively, a player with a ton of athleticism, makes all the routine plays and someone that can make the harder playseasier. Offensively, a player with good bat to ball, drives the ball gap to gap, someone you should not let get on base.

We are knee-deep into the off-season schedule. Tell us about your training, and spring preparation.

Becker: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Lift with bosco program (full body, explosive, speed) and have recovery on Friday (mobility, arm care, cupping), lift at my own gym (strength), hit late with my dad. Tuesday and Thursdays: winter hitting at bosco facility, lift at my own gym and hit late with my dad.

Name three goals for the upcoming season.

Becker: 1. Go for Triple Crown (League, County, State Champs) 2. Gatorade Player of the Year 3. Put myself in the best position to make a decision

Do you have any pregame superstitions?

Becker: No pregame supersitions

Who is the best player you have played against in your high school career so far? What makes that player so good?

Becker: There were alot of good players that I faced on the circuit this year. I would say though, the best players I played with were either my brother or Caden Dana. Both have high motors, good work ethic, and attention to detail. I've learned a lot just from being around them and watching their routines and the way they go about their buisness.

Who would you say your baseball role model is? Why?

Becker: My dad. He has taught me everything I know. He's been my only hitting and fielding coach for my whole life. He's been there every step of the way.
